Galloway, Harrison, 1865-

Individual

Born a slave in 1865, Harrison Galloway moved to the D.C. area where he raised his family. He started a church called Cedar Grove Baptist Church at 604 N. Randolph Street in the Ballston area of Arlington County.

He tore the church down once the members had moved on, but continued to hold church in his parsonage home behind the original location, calling the new congregation Shady Grove Baptist Church until the entire land was taken over by the Parkington shopping center.
