Clinton P. Anderson, Secretary of Agriculture, with Patricia Lee Sisemore and Jimmy Sykes during Easter Seals sale, 1948. Typed on accompanying sheet: "From: National Society for Crippled Children and Adults 11 S. Laselle Street, Chicago 3, Illinois Information Service--FRanklin [sic] 0390. Washington Information--Rick la Falce--National 6063. For release after Saturday, February 28 (1948). When two farm youngsters decided to help sell the Easter Seals that have helped them, Patricia Lee Sisemore, 7 (left), Fauquier County, Virginia, and Jimmy Sikes, 8 (right), Fairfax County Virginia, made their first sale to Secretary of Agriculture Clinton P. Anderson. Easter Seals gave Jimmy a brace for his paralyzed left leg and will soon provide him with an artificial limb to replace the right leg he lost in an automobile accident. Patricia's club foot has been treated since birth by means of wedge casts. These and other services to handicapped persons are made possible by the annual sale of Easter Seals, which ends on Easter Sunday, March 28."
